Sergeant Juan Alvarez
PUBLIC INFORMATION Sergeant Juan Alvarez is the University of Arizona Police Department P.I.O. (Public Information Officer). He is responsible for disseminating information to the public, particularly to the UA community. About Sergeant Alvarez Sergeant Juan Alvarez is a 1986 graduate of Pima Community College, in Tucson Arizona, earning an Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice. Sergeant Alvarez also graduated Cum Laude in May of 2006 from Northern Arizona University, earning a Bachelors Degree in Justice Systems Policy and Planning. Sergeant Alvarez began his law enforcement career in 1987 working as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff with the Pima County Sheriff's Department. Sergeant Alvarez began working for the University of Arizona Police Department (UAPD) in 1990. He was assigned to Patrol and worked as a Patrol Officer from 1990 to 1992. In 1992, Sergeant Alvarez was assigned to the Metropolitan Area Narcotics Trafficking and Interdiction Squad as a Narcotic Investigator and worked undercover enforcing narcotics laws within Pima County. In 1994 Sergeant Alvarez was promoted to the rank of Corporal and was assigned to Patrol. In July of 2001, Sergeant Alvarez was assigned to the Investigations Unit as a Detective and was responsible for general investigations. On June 6th, 2005, he was promoted to his current rank of Sergeant where he was assigned as a Patrol Sergeant up until his most recent tranistion in 2009 where he began his assignment of P.I.O. within the Crime Prevention Office. Sergeant Alvarez has also served as Acting Field Operations Commander, Field Training Officer, Firearms Instructor and Academy Class Advisor for SALETC class 03-03. |
