Commander Haywood began his law enforcement career with the Globe, Arizona Police Department in 1977. While there he was an officer and was responsible for supervision, recruiting and monitoring training for the Reserve police officers.

In 1983, Commander Haywood joined the UAPD as a police officer where he served as patrol officer, corporal, sergeant and lieutenant. During Commander Haywood's tenure, he has overseen all divisions and functions within UAPD.
