Commander Haywood

Commander Haywood began his law enforcement career with the Globe, Arizona Police Department in 1977. While there he was an officer and was responsible for supervision, recruiting and monitoring training for the Reserve police officers.

In 1983, Commander Haywood joined the UAPD as a police officer where he served as patrol officer, corporal and sergeant.

In 1990, Haywood was promoted to Lieutenant and was responsible for uniformed police officers and investigative personnel. In 1997, Haywood was named Commander of the Field Operations Division, a position he held until May 2000. In May, Haywood became the Commander of the Field Support Division, which is responsible for the Records Section, Communications Section and Property & Evidence Section. In December 2002, Commander Haywood assumed duties as Commander of the Special Support Division which is responsible for Traffic, Crime Prevention, Training, Public Information and Grants. Due to a department reorganization in early 2004, Commander Haywood was assigned the newly developed Operations Support Division which includes the Records Section, Communications, Property & Evidence, Traffic Section, Crime Prevention, Training, Special Events, and Public Information. In addition, he serves as the department's Accreditation Manager, coordinating the department's compliance with the standards established by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA).

In 1999, Commander Haywood became the fourth member of UAPD to attend the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. This three month long executive training academy involves attendance of classes daily with law enforcement managers from around the United States and the world. It is recognized throughout the law enforcement profession.
